As We Wave Goodbye

As we stand in the cold,
and we say our goodbyes;
I see the look on your face,
and the tears in your eyes.
As I board the train,
on that cold winter day;
I turn, and I see you,
as you slowly walk away.
quite by accident, you see;
as you fumbled with your locker,
and you turned, and smiled at me.
Your hair was brown and curly,
your eyes a piercing blue;
and you had such a flare about you,
even the shoes you wore were new.
As time went by, we grew closer,
we went everywhere together;
when we had time, we'd jump in your car,
and go riding, no matter the weather.
The years went by quickly,
and we lost track of each other;
for I had a life of my own,
and you worked for your father.
I became a famous lawyer,
with a big firm in L.A.;
and spent most of my time traveling,
to places far, far away.
You had asked me years before,
to become your blushing bride;
but I was so involved in my work,
that I brushed your love aside.
You married, and had a family,
two beautiful girls, and a boy;
and a loving wife, who filled your life,
with such tremendous joy.
So here we stand at the terminal,
as you see me off once more;
and we know that what we had together,
could never be as before.
Always follow your heart, or later you might regret it.
